With its 5-inch screen, the Astak EZ Reader Pocket Pro is more compact than most e-readers and fits comfortably in one hand when reading. Although it is a low cost e-reader, there is no support for Wi-Fi or cellular wireless

I just purchased this a few days ago and received it today and I love it! I used to use my Casio PDA to read ebooks, but this is great! It has a lot of features and does exactly what it’s supposed to do, be a “book”. It’s not a fancy pda, not touch screen or anything else. But, it does use the E Ink technology, supports the use of a SD card up to 16 gigs, which some of the more popular (and costly) ebooks don’t, also I download the news from Mobireader on my pc and read the daily news..it plays music, a big plus, and feel good in my hands. The best $200.00 I’ve spent yet!

So I just made the jump from the Kindle 1 to the EZ Reader Pocket Pro, and I am loving it.

The Number 1 thing I am excited to have has to be the folders. It makes it so easy to organize my vast library of eBooks. Being able to read just about every format that eBooks come in is also a major plus. No more being chained to the Amazon website or my converter software.

It is a joy to hold as well. The slight rubber feeling cover is soft and comfortable in the hand, and the three different ways to turn the page is a joy. As is the ability to read in landscape mode in PDF and EPub format.

Besides even if I had wanted to upgrade to the Kindle 2 the lack of external memory options would have made it impractical for me since I travel a lot and can’t always bring my laptop with me to change books out.

There are only a couple of things that I miss from the Kindle, the first is that when reading a PDF it does not give you a progress meter to tell you how far into the book you are. The other thing I miss is a quick way to jump directly back to the main menu from inside the book.

Neither of these is a deal breaker for the main reason that the management is very active about listening to what various feedback is and fixing the problems found with firmware updates.

Plus, it comes in a rainbow of colors. How can you beat having a purple ereader. Besides for only $200 dollars I don’t feel locked into it if something new and exciting comes out.

I love my new ereader, and highly recommend it. If you have any questions the Mobile Read website is an amazing resource and it helped me to decide what to upgrade to.

I absolutely love my Ezreader I’ve had it for about 5 months and read with it every day. So far I’ve read about 15 books on it. It easy to use, easy on the eyes and light.

I use Calibre (open source software) to convert all the books to epub format and then also use the same software to transfer the converted files to the Ezreader. It works like a charm. At first I found that the Ezreader would sometimes not open the Epub docs, I found however that if I Split all HTML files larger than 120KB it would work fine each and every time without fail. Apparently this is sometimes necessary as most EPUB readers cannot handle large file sizes. Spliting the epub document is really easy to do using Calibre just select it from the Epub output Tab.

You can download Calibre from: http://calibre-ebook.com/download.

The battery life is AWESOME, the value for money is AWESOME, the product is AWESOME, I’ve rediscovered the joys of reading!!
