The Origami DVD Player is a concept design by Inventibles. It uses a full color e-paper display which can fold down to fit in your palm. I was surprised that the inventors were able to come up with something this cool, yet limit its potential function to only DVD playing. It is pretty clear that the trend in the market is towards all-in-one devices, as consumers do not want to carry anything extra. A more appropriate concept design for the future would be to make this an all-in-one device for e-reading, video, music, and mobile applications. While the visuals for this device are cool, there is no way folded down plastic e-paper would not have creases. A more realistic device would be a small cylindrical tube that encompasses a tightly rolled sheet of e-paper.
