    HP's flexible plastic display

HP, in cooperation with the Flexible Display Center at Arizona State, Dupont Teijin Films and E ink, have come out with displays that are made out of plastic. HP uses the patented self-aligned imprint lithography, or SAIL to make these plastic e-paper displays.

The company hopes to mass produce it soon

Ah, I've read about this. This is a true convergence of technology and companies!

FDC provides the semiconductor materials and metals that's on PEN (polyethylene naphthalate) using Dupont's films, then HP processes it and incorporates e-Ink's vizplex imaging film

That is great. I've heard that the Vizplex allows the image to be constantly displayed, even when there is no voltage. This allows the device to save power.

I've been hearing a lot of good products and technology coming out of the Flexible Display Center out of Arizona State U, and I tell you, these guys are at the forefront of e-paper technology. It's great they are finally moving forward.

I agree... HP would be a great key player in the e-paper technology, they have done so much research on this product and I guess even if it's not their core product, it will help boost sales.

Yup, Vizplex is actually one of the first e-paper technology that worked. And if you looked at how e-paper is being described, you'd find that it's this technology that made the most impact: power-saving, constant static display.

Hmmmn... that's true, a significant component of the technology.

yup from concept to reality :) HP sure did good to patent this process. They are now in a position to mass produce these plastic screen at a very low cost. I can't wait for that to happen!

Vizplex is a great development for e-paper... it actually "burns" the image temporarily into the e-paper screen.

I agree... it seems only yesterday that HP announced the technology and it seemed too sci-fi back then... now with all these products coming out, they are really making progress! It's not so sci-fi now!
