I'm a industrial designer, and i'm working on a display.
Is it possible to produce a round e-paper.
Like a disc or a half circle?

If it is possible, would it be more expensive?

Yes, that is easily possible with the products on the market at the moment. The beauty of the e-ink model is that each microcapsule acts as an individual cell and so if you have a sheet of it, you oculd dut it to whatever shape you'd like. With some other e-papers it might be more trickey as they rely on pre-designed pixels (cf Sipix cups) but with E-Ink you could just cut to size, whack the electronics on the back and you're good to go.

What in particular are you interested in if I can ask?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I'm working on a thermostat.
My first thought was to work with pre-designed pixels, but maybe thats not necessary here. I attached a picture to give an idea of what I have in mind.
The black blocks are in e-paper (pre-designed). The gradations are on the case above the e-paper, but i didn't model it.
    Any feedback is welcome.

I think it looks beautiful. well done!

My initial thoughts are that this thermostat will be difficult to read at night when the lights are off (e-paper is a reflective display), but the end-user could simply turn on the lights in the room if they want to adjust settings.

I'm not sure if you have thought of this, but since e-paper requires very little power, this thermostat does not need to be hardwired into the wall. You could simply have this powered by a single battery and connect to the main thermostat unit via wifi.

    Thanks.

I consider reading at the thermostat at night not as a problem. Indeed, you can simply turn the lights on + extra lightning would unnecessary complicate it.

A single battery is currently the best solution.
But I'm not sure about the wifi yet.

The advantage of that is it will allow the end-user to place the thermostat anywhere they like, so that it flows with their interior design.

    cheers,
