e-paper only good as e-book reader?

Amazon has just come out with ads on Kindle, but the device has been around for more than a year. I think it came out in 2007.

I also have a CyBook, which is a plain e-book reader. That sets me to wonder is e-paper just good for e-book readers?

Hi. Well, there are a lot of applications for e-paper really. I think an e-book reader is just one of the first products or applications available.

Hi there, Quiet. I think Kindle was being promoted by Amazon late 2007, but yeah, I do see the new ads now.

Hi Butevil, yeah, because e-paper technlogy is best suited for e-book reading, that's why it's a more prevalent application as an e-book reader, but it can be applied elsewhere

I think it's unfair to think of e-paper as just good for e-book readers, while it is perfect for ebook readers, it can be used for other things as well. To answer the original question, some newspaper companies have come up with subscription-based e-newspapers, although I haven't really heard of a US newspaper firm doing that. I do know that the French has that scheme going

Yeah... I've been reading more about e-Paper here and there. It seems that Les Echos launched an e-paper version in 200. they even gave out the reader free with a one-year subscription. I think they were the first

You're wrong, they were not the first... De Tijd was the first, but it was not really an on-going basis, just a marketing stunt for the new iLiad.

I think it's not fair. If all you've seen are ebook readers, then you'd have no basis to say that it's only good as an ebook reader.

I suggest you look up the various e-paper applications that we have on the site... it could be very enlightening!

I think people are confusing the fact that e-paper is a great technology for e-readers, but it is NOT something that's exclusively good only for e-readers. To be sure e-paper currently has a lot of great applications for other things.
