Many experts have said that with the advent of the computer, offices would be paperless, but that didn't happen. In fact, what happened was the opposite, with a lot more paper being consumed. Do you think e-paper would bring about the paperless office?

yeah, it's one of my biggest disappointments with the PC. But think about it, when laptops and now netbooks became popular, the ability to carry with you all your documents have lessened the use of paper.

I don't think it will. That's basically what people had been saying about computers, and as you said, that didn't happen. People have been used to reading from or writing on paper.

Hmmmn.. you have a point. Also paper is cheap. I don't think everyone would be able to afford e-paper devices. Also right now, there is a dearth of devices that allow input, with the same level of convenience as ordinary paper

I think it will. You guys should consider that the reason why people still print out documents is that CRT monitors are hard on the eyes. You could get eyestrain after only an hour, even 30 minutes of reading. e-papers on the other hand gives you a better and more comfortable reading experience.

Am thinking, it will not totally eradicate paper in the office, but it will lessen the use of paper. People will no longer be printing out copies of spreadsheets and memos that they need, or other work materials they may have... they just copy it to their readers and voila...

there are some things that would need paper though, like contracts, important and confidential documents and what have you.

Paper is cheap now, but have you thought about the time when trees become scarcer and scarcer? That would drive the price of paper up!

I hope this is true... I just think that people will print out useless things just because they can.

I think it's going to be a very tall order to eliminate paper. It's been with us since when we were kids. To do so would be to give e-paper devices to the young... even then it's not going to be feasible... But I do agree with others have said, that they will lessen the use of paper...

not as much and as fast as how you get eyestrain from looking at your computer's monitors.

I think paper would have a place in offices now and in the future, but definitely e-paper would have an impact when it comes to documents and spreadsheets that needs to be done while in transit of on the road.... e-paper devices would enable you to read, modify and basically manipulate it, while paper can't.

Important documents, however, would still need to be printed out on paper.
