The 1000 series of the iRex Digital Reader adds wireless capabilities and tablet functionality to an already powerful device. It comes with a screen that is larger than most other digital reads on the market (10 inches rather than 8 inches) and a support for some of the more popular ebook formats. The only thing missing is a soundcard, so fans of audiobooks and MP3’s will have to do without.

iRex has become my go to for my office when it comes to paperwork. We’ve gotten rid of all paper documents we use in house, and instead use the DR 1000 for everything. This is a life saver, and it’s so much easier to track and find records. We store them as MS Word documents, and then push them to the device. Nothing easier. With a large display, wireless connectivity AND touchscreen, this is a must for any office that wants to ditch the old dead tree way of doing things and go green.

My husband got this for me for xmass and it ROCKS. This thing is hardcore awesome sauce. I spent hours just fiddling around with it- it does everything! I can’t get over how cool this is. And I just wanted a Kindle. Glad I didn’t settle for that, and got the best of the best.

I wish I would’ve shopped around a bit more before I bought this. I didn’t need anything this powerful, and could’ve spent far less money on something just as good. Next time I’ll look around at some websites and get a better idea of what I’m buying.

This cost way too much and the screen refresh was too slow. What I was hoping for was like an Elite Kindle, since it has wireless and touch screen and more variations of grey. The images looked sharp and clear and fantastic, but the page load and flip time was achingly slow. Slower than any other ereader I tried. Not worth the extra money. Also the battery time just isn’t as good as some of the other ereaders I tried out. All in all, I was disappointed.

This was a waste of money. And not just a little money, a whole lot of money. I spent a ton on what I thought was a killer ereader with tons of features. Instead, I got this thing that barely works right. The battery drains even when it’s turned off! So much for the long battery life of an ereader. And I bought an 8GB card to pop into this, and it won’t format it over 1GB. What’s up with that? There is so much promise here, but it doesn’t live up to it at all. I took this back and bought a PRS 700, and despite it’s flaws, it is way more power for the price than this thing was.

If this worked right, it would be the best thing ever. As it is, this ereader is severally buggy, and for the price you pay for it that just isn’t cool. Out of the box I had so many problems with it, including a very short battery life and it not reading half the files I throw at it. I expected more from Irex. I sent this back and got an Iliad, which I liked a ton more.

I admit initial this baby had some issues, but with recent software updates (1.6) it runs very smooth, also PDF documents load a lot faster and the page turning is also very smooth now. If you like to read full page letter/a4 size documents, than this is the only reader in town that is able to offer this and I absolutely love the ability to make handwritten notes.

I don’t get this battery life thing; how come when it’s turned off it drains it completely and is empty every time I forget to plugin into USB !?!?!? Is that a firmware problem (I have the latest firmware)?

What are those people talking about when they say DR1000 has wireless connectivity? There is only one version and its doesn’t have wireless, as usual they promised but it has became the actual DR800 and the others version wasn’t done.

For my point of view those previous datas was edited and “self-posted” by irex itself to deceive us.

Beware about it, I have one, it is chubby, has boot time (about 50 seconds), loads of problems to display PDF, its battery only last up to 10 hours of continuos reading and does not goes asleep when you are not reading, you have to turn it off.

I have PRS-505, PRS-700 and PRS-600 (I am a collector), and I made a crucial test, I set up my device to no go automatic asleep, so it would be showing the same page if I left it like that, I fully recharged all of the units and I set those in a randomly page for 24H, and for my astonishing It was showing full charged, even after I flip few pages in each one….

How comes the most expensive ereader in the market be so shambolic? I am totally down about it’s unit even though it is looking I am only moving that flak because I own one, I’ve believe on their advertisement and guess what everything was a big LIE.

So, if you believe on that crap please, be aware you won’t fond nor even 10% about the good things they have said, specially the “Wireless” it doesn’t exit on DR1000SW
